Seating Primers: RCBS Rock Chucker vs. RCBS Hand Primer

I’ve done a product review on two different tools you can use for seating primers; the RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme Single Stage Press and the RCBS Hand Primer. The video above does a good job describing the two products so I won’t go into too much detail here. Below is a summary of my results.

RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme Press

RCBS Rock Chucker
Pros:
-Free, considering that your using the press for other tasks
-Does a good job allowing you to “feel” when the primer is fully seated
Cons:
-Slow
-Each primer needs to be loaded into the primer arm manually

RCBS Hand Priming Tool

RCBS Hand Primer
Pros:
-Fast
-Automatically feeds primers
Cons:
-Cost ($30-$40)
-Difficult to “feel” when primer is seated

Winner: RCBS Hand Primer
