Case Trimming: Forster Original Case Trimmer vs. Frankford Arsenal Platinum Series Case Trim and Prep System

I’ve done a product review on two different tools you can use for case trimming; the Forster Original Case Trimmer and the Frankford Arsenal Platinum Series Case Trim and Prep System. The video above does a good job describing the two products so I won’t go into too much detail here. Below is a summary of my results.

Forster Original Trimmer ($105+)

Pros:
-Adjustments are easy and very granular
-Able to trim a wide variety of calibers
-No electricity needed (in case of zombie apocalypse)

Cons:
-Slow
-Lengthy trimming sessions may cause fatigue

Forster Original Case Trimmer

Frankford Arsenal Platinum Series Case Trim and Prep System ($160+)

Pros:
-Fast
-Case neck indexing
-Can be used in other case preparation tasks

Cons:
-Cost
-Plastic “collet” is designed for multiple calibers. If wore or not set correctly it may cause uneven trims.

 Winner: Tie
